Every year around early February, our printer goes into overdrive. Heart coloring pages are in my kids' blood, they start requesting Valentine's coloring pages in late January and we don't stop until mid-February. Last year we made 23 Valentine cards by hand using heart coloring pages. Postage alone was a commitment. Zero regrets.

A carefully colored heart mandala page makes an exceptional handmade Valentine. Print on cardstock (the heavier paper gives the finished piece a more substantial, gift-like quality), color it with your best pencils, and frame it or present it in a clear sleeve. I've given my mother a framed colored heart mandala for her last two birthdays and she has both displayed. It takes about an hour and costs almost nothing, but the gesture lands like a real gift.
